Life Insurance and Accidental Death & Dismemberment (AD&D) Benefit Increases

Life and AD&D Insurance Benefits for Active Plan Participants:

Effective September 1, 2022, the Trustees approved an increase to your Life Insurance and Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D) benefits.

 

  • $20,000 in group life insurance benefits will be paid to your beneficiary in the event of your death from any cause while eligible under the Plan.
  • Up to $20,000 in AD&D benefits will be paid for death or dismemberment due to an accident that happens on or off the job, and if:
    • You are eligible under the Health Plan on the date of the accident,
    • The death or dismemberment occurs within 180 days after the accident, and
    • The cause of death or dismemberment is not excluded.

Life Insurance benefits provided for your eligible Dependents including Spouse/Domestic Partner and Dependent child(ren) up to age 21 have also increased, as follows:

  • Spouse or Domestic Partner - $5,000
  • Children less than 21 years of age - $1,000

These benefits are available to Participants, Spouses/Domestic Partners and eligible Dependent child(ren) up to age 21 who are enrolled in Plans A, B and Flat Rate (both Indemnity Medical Plan and the Kaiser HMO Plan).

These benefits are not available to participants or dependents who are covered under Plan R.
