Anthem Blue Cross Prudent Buyer Hospital Network - Contract Negotiations with:

- Stanford Hospital and Healthcare Medical Group

- Lucile Packard Children's Hospital and Medical Group

- University Healthcare Alliance Medical Group

Anthem has reached an agreement with Stanford Hospital, Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital and affiliated medical groups.

Stanford facilities and medical groups are in-network as Preferred Providers (PPO) retroactively to September 1, 2022, with no interruption to their PPO status.

Any earlier announcements regarding Stanford facility terminations from the PPO network may be disregarded.

What does this mean?

This means services incurred on and after September 1, 2022, at any Stanford facility will continue to be covered at in-network benefit levels.

Visit www.anthem.com/ca/find-care/ to search for a current list of in-network PPO contract providers in your area. You can find a list of in-network PPO providers as a guest, typing HTW in the “ID number or prefix” field of this Anthem find-care website.

Because this Plan is a “grandfathered health plan,” we are required by law to provide this notice to you: Grandfathered Health Plan:

The Board of Trustees of the Carpenters Health and Welfare Trust Fund for California believes the Indemnity Medical Plan is a “grandfathered health plan” under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (“the Affordable Care Act”). As permitted by the Affordable Care Act, a grandfathered health plan can preserve certain basic health coverage that was already in effect when that law was enacted. Being a grandfathered health plan means that your plan may not include certain consumer protections of the Affordable Care Act that apply to other plans, for example, the requirement for the provision of preventative health services without any cost sharing. However, grandfathered health plans must comply with certain other consumer protections in the Affordable Care Act, for example the elimination of lifetime limits on benefits. Questions regarding which protections apply and which protections do not apply to a grandfathered health plan and what might cause a plan to change from grandfathered health plan status can be directed to the plan administrator or the Department of Labor at 1-866-444-3272 or www.dol.gov/ebsa/healthreform. This website has a table summarizing which protections do and do not apply to grandfathered health plans.
